Senior Risk Associate

Lithic is seeking a Senior Risk Associate to run the company's risk assessment function, including client risk assessments, third-party risk management, and enterprise risk assessment. This role involves executing assessments, maintaining underwriting criteria, managing third-party risk operations, and supporting enterprise risk assessments. The position also involves working with AI-assisted tooling to improve assessment workflows.

Responsibilities

• Execute client risk assessments end to end, including document collection, interviews, scoring, written assessment, tier determination, and pre-launch conditions.
• Own program underwriting by applying and maintaining underwriting criteria, recommending limits, and reassessing programs as needed.
• Run third-party risk operations, including vendor intake, due diligence, control effectiveness ratings, and tracking issues.
• Support enterprise risk assessments and maintain the risk register.
• Continuously improve risk programs by refining rubrics, questionnaires, and SOPs.
• Test, deploy, and tune agentic tooling across assessment workflows and document its use.
• Define and report KPIs and KRIs for assessment programs and surface findings to leadership.
• Serve as evidence owner for partner bank, audit, and examiner requests.
• Mentor and cross-train teammates on assessment methodology and tooling.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience conducting risk assessments in fintech, payments, or banking.
• Working knowledge of underwriting fundamentals such as financial statement review, liquidity analysis, and limit setting.
• Fluency with rubric-based scoring methodologies and consistent application.
• Track record of owning risk programs end to end with limited guidance.
• Ability to read control reports (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II) and translate findings into risk positions.
• Comfort working with AI-assisted or agentic tooling and defending AI decisions.
• Self-starter who can create structure and knows when to escalate.
• Clear, concise writing under compliance standards.

Salary $86,000 - $144,000 annually, plus equity.
