Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

A Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for developing, reviewing, and approving mechanical engineering designs for oil & gas, petrochemical, industrial, and infrastructure projects. This role involves preparing technical documentation, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing mentorship to junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and approve mechanical engineering designs.
• Prepare mechanical design calculations, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.
• Design and engineer mechanical systems, equipment, piping interfaces, and associated facilities.
• Coordinate with Process, Piping, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, and other disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with codes and standards such as ASME, API, ASTM, and ISO.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Review vendor drawings and technical submissions.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and project technical meetings.
• Support procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 8–12 years of relevant experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, or major industrial projects.
• Proven experience delivering mechanical engineering design packages.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment design, layouts, and engineering calculations.
• Experience with static and rotating equipment, including pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Plant 3D, Navisworks, or equivalent tools.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Professional engineering registration or membership is an advantage.
