Technical Engineer - Renewable Energy
Structured Energy Systems Limited is seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Engineer to drive the technical engineering business in line with company objectives and oversee daily operations in the technical aspect of the business. The role involves managing technical teams, ensuring project execution, and delivering high-quality services to clients.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations in the technical aspect of the business.
- Manage multiple technical teams within budget and project schedule.
- Develop long-term relationships with clients and persuade them that a product or service best satisfies their needs.
- Mentor, manage, and motivate field engineers/subordinates.
- Work on after-sales support services and provide technical back-up as required.
- Coordinate and direct all technical projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals.
- Analyze technical needs, resource needs, and market demand to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
- Prepare monthly progress and executive summary reports on projects.
- Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment.
- Ensure strategies adopted for every project are cost-effective while upholding engineering service standards.
- Direct, review, and approve product design and changes.
- Oversight responsibility for the end-to-end life cycle of all projects and activities within the technical department.
- Assign, direct, and evaluate direct reports’ work, and oversee staff competence development.
- Stay abreast with the latest technologies and recommend solutions to novel customer requests.
- Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the technical department.
- Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
- Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
- Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications.
- Set technical goals within broad outlines provided by top management.
- Track projects subcontracted to third parties, ensuring they meet company standards.
- Evaluate KPIs and performance for the Technical team.
- Formulate career development plans within the department.
- Collaborate with other departments to create coordinated plans for general business growth.
- Develop and implement safety guidelines in all aspects of the Technical department.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in electrical/electronics engineering or related discipline.
- Previous/current supervisory/managerial role recommended.
- 7–10 years’ experience in either banking or telecommunications industry.
- In-depth understanding of AC and DC power systems (Rectifiers, Inverters, UPS, AVR, ATS, panels, Diesel Generators, Transformers).
- Knowledge of alternative/renewable energy technologies (Solar, Wind, Hydro, Geothermal).
- Strong managerial, communication, and presentation skills.
- Expertise with CRM systems and practices.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- HSE knowledge and certification is an added advantage.
- Certification in alternative power solutions and/or electrical engineering is desirable.
