Ophthalmologist

An experienced and independently competent Ophthalmologist is needed to join the team. The role involves providing comprehensive ophthalmic care, performing routine surgeries, and supervising other eye-care professionals. The ideal candidate should be clinically skilled, detail-oriented, and committed to patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive ophthalmic care from consultation through investigation, treatment and discharge.
• Assess and manage general ophthalmic conditions and perform routine ophthalmic surgery competently.
• Provide appropriate preoperative and postoperative care and maintain accurate records.
• Supervise optometrists, nurses and other members of the eye-care team.
• Participate in clinical governance, patient-safety and quality-improvement activities.

Requirements

• Fellowship in Ophthalmology from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, West African College of Surgeons, or an appropriate Royal College.
• Current MDCN registration and annual practising licence.
• Post-fellowship clinical and surgical experience is preferred.
• Must be independently competent in routine ophthalmic procedures.
