Head of Human Resources
The Label Store is seeking a highly experienced, strategic, and results-oriented Head of Human Resources to lead and oversee the HR function across its organization. This role involves providing strategic leadership for HR, working closely with Executive Management, and ensuring the organization maintains a productive, engaged, and high-performing workforce across all branches.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and overall direction for the Human Resources function across the organization.
- Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, procedures, and initiatives that support the organization's business objectives and growth plans.
- Partner with Executive Management and departmental heads on workforce planning, organizational development, manpower requirements, and people-related business decisions.
- Lead the recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention of competent staff across all branches and departments.
- Develop and implement effective performance management systems to drive accountability, productivity, and high performance.
- Oversee employee relations, grievance handling, disciplinary processes, conflict resolution, investigations, and other staff-related matters in line with company policies and applicable labour laws.
- Ensure effective monitoring of staff attendance, productivity, conduct, and compliance with company policies across all branches.
- Develop and coordinate learning and development programmes to improve staff competence, leadership capability, and organizational performance.
- Lead talent management, succession planning, career development, and leadership development initiatives.
- Oversee compensation and benefits administration, salary reviews, staff welfare, and other employee-related programmes.
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian Labour Laws, statutory employment requirements, and internal HR policies.
- Develop and maintain an effective HR reporting and analytics system to provide Management with accurate workforce data and actionable recommendations.
- Prepare periodic HR reports, workforce analytics, manpower plans, and strategic recommendations for Executive Management.
- Work closely with Operations, Finance, Audit, and other departments to strengthen organizational effectiveness and support business growth.
- Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives that promote a positive, productive, and high-performance work culture.
- Lead, supervise, coach, and develop the HR team to ensure effective delivery of HR services across the organization.
- Review and continuously improve HR processes, systems, and practices to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
- Identify HR risks and recommend appropriate actions to Management.
- Represent the Human Resources function in Management meetings and other strategic business discussions as required.
- Perform any other HR-related responsibilities as may be assigned by Executive Management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10–12 years' cognate experience in Human Resources, with at least 5 years in a senior HR leadership or management position, preferably within the retail, FMCG, banking, hospitality, or other structured organization.
- Minimum of B.Sc./HND in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Psychology, or any related discipline.
- Possession of relevant professional certifications such as CIPM, SHRM, HRCI, or CIPD will be a strong advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian Labour Laws, employment regulations, HR best practices, and statutory requirements.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with business objectives.
- Demonstrated experience in talent acquisition, workforce planning, performance management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, training and development, succession planning, and organizational development.
- Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring, negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, professionalism, and sound judgement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-branch environment and effectively manage competing priorities.
