About the role
Material Officer
Responsible for the receipt, inspection, storage, and management of medical supplies, equipment, and foundation materials in a hospital setting. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and maintains accurate inventory records.
Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect pharmaceuticals, medical consumables, laboratory reagents, and equipment against purchase orders and delivery documents.
- Coordinate technical inspections with relevant departments and report on damaged or non-conforming items.
- Maintain proper storage conditions, including cold chain integrity for temperature-sensitive items.
- Apply FEFO and lot control to manage expiry dates and traceability of stock.
- Maintain records of medical equipment and coordinate with biomedical engineering.
- Control the receipt and distribution of donated stock and foundation materials.
- Issue materials against approved requisitions and monitor stock levels.
- Conduct inventory checks and reconcile physical stock with records.
- Prepare reports on stock movements, near-expiry items, and temperature excursions.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
Requirements
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Knowledge of medical supply chain and inventory management.
- Ability to work independently and follow strict procedures.
- Familiarity with NAFDAC regulations and cold chain management.
