Unix System Administrator – Rancher Specialist

About the role
Vennote Technologies Limited is seeking an experienced Unix System Administrator with specialized expertise in SUSE Rancher to manage enterprise Linux environments and Kubernetes clusters. The role requires strong skills in system administration, container security, and infrastructure reliability.
Responsibilities • Deploy, configure and manage Kubernetes clusters using SUSE Rancher. • Administer RHEL, Solaris and Oracle Linux environments. • Manage server performance, virtualisation, OS updates and system maintenance. • Handle user accounts, access controls and RBAC. • Monitor server and cluster performance, troubleshoot infrastructure issues and resolve failures. • Perform backup and recovery activities, including Velero for Kubernetes. • Implement system hardening, security policies and container security practices. • Coordinate with vendors on root cause analysis and permanent fixes. • Support infrastructure upgrades, disaster recovery and compliance activities.
Requirements • Hands-on expertise in SUSE Rancher, Docker and Kubernetes. • Proficiency in Bash, Python or Perl scripting. • Strong knowledge of RHEL, Solaris and Oracle Linux. • Knowledge of SELinux, IPTables/Firewalld and CIS security benchmarks. • Experience with automated patch management tools. • Strong troubleshooting, analytical and communication skills. • CKA or Rancher certification is highly desirable. • Oracle/Solaris, VMware, AWS/Azure or ITIL v4 certifications are additional advantages.
