Role Overview

RAWYOD is inviting committed young people to serve as Youth Civic Intelligence Participants under the NYFF Project. Volunteers will support civic engagement and help monitor and document public projects and governance issues in their communities.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the three-day Civic Intelligence Lab and project orientations.
• Learn and use the Arewa Civic Tracker to document governance issues and public projects.
• Collect and submit accurate, evidence-based information from the community.
• Engage respectfully with community members, leaders and relevant institutions.
• Complete assigned activities and submit information within agreed timelines.
• Maintain a non-partisan, objective and responsible approach to civic monitoring.

Requirements

• Be aged 18–35 years.
• Have at least a Diploma, NCE or equivalent post-secondary qualification.
• Reside in the LGA they wish to represent and have good knowledge of the community.
• Own a smartphone or suitable smart device capable of running the Arewa Civic Tracker, accessing the internet and capturing GPS coordinates.
• Demonstrate an interest in governance, accountability, community development, democracy, advocacy, public service delivery or citizen participation.
• Communicate effectively in English, Hausa and/or relevant local languages.
• Be available for the three-day Civic Intelligence Lab and subsequent project activities.
• Be willing to participate on a non-partisan basis and comply with RAWYOD’s Code of Conduct and safeguarding requirements.
