Field Technician - Fiber (FTTH, FTTB, FTTX)

Responsible for installing, commissioning, and maintaining fiber network equipment across self-build and leased routes. This role involves working on access and core fiber networks, troubleshooting, and ensuring accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission head ends
• Install fiber cables on access and core routes according to best practices
• Commission fiber spans and end-to-end circuits using OTDR and OLTS
• Verify and capture as-built documentation
• Attend to fiber breakdowns and perform preventative maintenance
• Liaise with internal teams and third-party suppliers
• Assist in managing and planning the overall fiber network
• Ensure network design aligns with relevant software
• Attend industry events and partner meetings

Requirements

• Diploma or equivalent in a technical field
• Minimum of 3 years of technical experience in the telecom industry, with at least 2 years in fiber installation and maintenance
• Knowledge of ducts, fiber, build methodologies, splice enclosures, patch panels, OSP, and ISP
• Experience with quality assurance auditing, optical networking, and testing tools
• Familiarity with Google Earth, QGIS, and OSS systems
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems effectively
• Excellent English language communicator with strong interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data
• Sales and commercial mindset
