Accountant

Role Overview

The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate and complete financial records, supporting timely financial reporting, ensuring compliance with applicable tax and accounting requirements, and providing reliable financial information to support management decisions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and accounting ledgers.
• Ensure all financial transactions are properly captured, classified and supported by appropriate documentation.
• Prepare and review journal entries and supporting schedules.
• Perform regular bank reconciliations for company accounts.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Prepare and support the filing of applicable statutory returns, including VAT, WHT and other relevant tax obligations.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and accounting schedules.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Support internal and external audit processes.
• Reconcile store-related transactions and ensure completeness of sales and expense records.
• Perform other finance and accounting duties as assigned.

Requirements

• B.Sc./HND qualification in Accounting or a closely related accounting discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years' relevant post-qualification experience in an Accountant or similar role.
• Experience in a multi-location organisation is highly desirable.
• Strong working knowledge of financial accounting principles, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, VAT, WHT and statutory tax processes, month-end and year-end closing, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, SUMIFS.
• Experience in retail, FMCG, hospitality, luxury goods, beauty/cosmetics or a similar transaction-intensive industry is an advantage.
• ICAN/ACCA Professional Level or Chartered qualification is a strong advantage.
