About the role

Accountant

GVA Partners is seeking a detail-oriented and qualified accountant to manage all financial records, ensure compliance with statutory obligations, and support the company's budgeting and financial planning processes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of all statutory payments and receipts, including Withholding Tax (WHT), revenue remittances, and other regulatory obligations.
  • Prepare and monitor the Company’s monthly budgets, including payroll, procurement, and operational expenses.
  • Manage petty cash disbursements and maintain detailed records of all related transactions and expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulatory requirements, including Tax Clearance, NSITF, Pension, and other statutory obligations.
  • Liaise with external auditors to ensure timely preparation and maintenance of annual audited financial statements and tax clearance documentation.
  • Properly document, organize, and file all accounting and finance-related processes and records.
  • Maintain both electronic and physical filing systems for accounting documents, vouchers, receipts, and supporting records.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, government regulations, and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Analyse financial data and provide recommendations to Management on financial decisions, improvements, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Provide support during internal and external audit exercises and ensure the timely availability of required documentation.
  • Assist with budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow planning and monitoring.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support organizational goals and operational efficiency.
  • Carry out any other finance and administrative duties as assigned by Management from time to time.

Requirements

  • BSc in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience post NYSC.
  • Must have completed NYSC.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, numeracy, and organizational skills.
  • Possess Critical-thinking skills and inquisitive mindset.
  • Ability to use accounting software – QuickBooks and Sage 50.
