About the role
Senior Oil Trader
Responsible for originating, negotiating, and executing transactions in various oil products such as PMS, AGO, DPK/ATK, LPG, fuel oil, base oils, and crude oil. Manage imports, vessel operations, storage, and domestic distribution, while also developing international offtaker relationships and engaging with key Nigerian regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities
- Originate, negotiate, and execute transactions in various oil products.
- Manage imports, vessel operations, throughput, storage, and domestic distribution.
- Structure and execute export cargoes and develop international offtaker relationships.
- Build strong institutional and regulatory engagement with NNPC, NMDPRA, NUPRC, NPA, NIMASA, Customs, and CBN.
- Lead deal structuring, trade finance, and risk management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business, Law, or related discipline. MBA or professional certifications are an advantage.
- 8–12 years in physical oil trading, with at least 5 years owning deals and P&L responsibility.
- Proven import, export, domestic trading, and throughput experience.
- Direct transaction history with NNPC Limited and regulators.
- Crude oil trading expertise.
- Deep knowledge of pricing benchmarks, Incoterms, marine operations, and Nigerian downstream regulations.
- Excellent negotiation, commercial judgment, and relationship management skills.
- Strong financial modelling and risk management skills.
- High integrity and compliance record.
