Communications Officer
The Today for Tomorrow Initiative (TFT) is seeking a Communications Officer to support its efforts in promoting sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) and preventing sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) across targeted local government areas (LGAs) in Nigeria. The role involves developing and executing communication strategies, creating IEC materials, managing media relations, and documenting project impact.
Responsibilities
- Formulate and manage the project communication strategy to boost awareness, participation, and visibility across all target LGAs.
- Coordinate the design, translation, production, and distribution of IEC materials tailored to local languages and literacy levels.
- Oversee the development and local broadcasting of radio jingles, public service announcements, and radio messaging for community sensitization and SBCC drives.
- Ensure all public materials, event backdrops, reports, and digital contents adhere to organizational and donor visibility guidelines.
- Conduct field interviews, write success stories, draft impact case studies, and showcase qualitative improvements in SRHR and SGBV outcomes.
- Capture and archive high-quality photography, short video clips, and audio records from community events, training workshops, and outreach campaigns.
- Manage local media relationships, manage press/media presence during key project events, and maintain a media repository for external reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Strategic Communication, or Development Communication.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in development communication, media production, or public relations within the humanitarian or development sector.
- Hands-on experience in coordinating the production of IEC materials, radio jingles, audio-visual messages, and SBCC campaign content.
- Proficient in digital photography, videography, and graphic design/editing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Canva).
- Proven ability to write compelling human-interest stories, case studies, success stories, and press releases for diverse audiences.
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills in English; fluency in Hausa or local Adamawa languages.
