Internal Audit Officer
The Incorporated Trustees of Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organisation (WEWE) is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Internal Audit Officer. This role involves assisting in the review of financial expenditures, improving control processes, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist in pre- and post-review of all financial expenditures/documents.
- Contribute to the improvement of WEWE control processes, risk management, and governance.
- Perform monthly reviews and evaluations of financial records/reports and bank reconciliation statements.
- Ensure that WEWE and donor’s assets are safeguarded.
- Ensure that inventory records are up-to-date, complete, and accurate.
- Assist in identifying risks and reporting to appropriate authorities with improvement recommendations.
- Investigate cases of fraudulent practices and missing assets.
- Prepare audit reports and documents.
- Document audit processes and prepare audit findings memorandum.
- Conduct follow-up audits to monitor management’s interventions.
- Conduct Fraud Awareness and Prevention training for staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting or other social science-related field.
- Applicants with a second-class upper (2.1) or first-class or upper credit or distinction will be an added advantage.
- Must be a full member of ICAN or equivalent.
- Experience in an audit firm managing similar responsibilities.
- Experience in participating in statutory or audits of local NGOs.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and QuickBooks accounting software.
- Thorough understanding of program management, donor reporting requirements, and managing donor relations.
