About the role
Field Sales Manager – Lagos
HBM Nigeria Plc is seeking an experienced Field Sales Manager to drive sales growth and ensure operational excellence in the concrete products market across Lagos. This role combines strategic commercial leadership with hands-on customer relationship management, technical advisory, and strict safety oversight.
Responsibilities
- Sales & Commercial Strategy: Implement area commercial strategies and sales action plans to achieve sales targets and profit margins; organize and control regional commercial operations
- Customer Relationship Management: Evaluate and strengthen Lafarge relationships with large and medium companies, masons, developers, and home builders; assess evolving needs and proactively handle complaints
- Product Advisory: Provide technical solutions and recommendations on concrete specifications, value-added products (VAPs), and applications across housing, commercial, industrial, and civil works
- Market & Competition: Track construction activity, monitor market intelligence weekly, and maintain awareness of competitive landscape
- Safety & Compliance: Apply and enforce safety policies; report incidents, near misses, and environmental non-compliance; ensure jobsite access meets safety standards
- Placing & Finishing Services: Propose and price placing and finishing service offerings; follow jobsites through completion including deliveries, invoicing, and fund collection
- Logistics & Operations: Monitor purchase and sales alignment with pumping and delivery scheduling; coordinate with Production, Transportation, Marketing, and Legal departments
- Credit & Administrative Functions: Identify creditworthy customers, negotiate payment terms, ensure timely invoicing, manage cash flow, and participate in credit meetings
- Reporting: Submit monthly sales indicators, customer relationship reports, market intelligence updates, and administrative reports to Line Manager and Area Manager
- Brand Representation: Represent Lafarge Africa Plc at trade exhibitions, building expos, and industry events to promote products
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Building Technology, Architecture, Marketing, Humanities, or Social Science (Master's degree is a plus)
Experience
- Minimum 3–4 years of sales experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction materials and the building industry
Core Competencies
- Strong presentation, communication, and networking skills
- Excellent negotiation and financial acumen
- Customer-focused, results-oriented, and capable of performing under pressure
- Proactive problem-solver with sound business sense
- Knowledge of concrete products, production processes, and transportation management
- Understanding of Value Added Products (VAPs) and Ultra Series products
- Basic knowledge of concrete and production tools
- Proficiency with SFDC, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and pricing matrix tools (CG Mix/BC Mix and Ready-soft a plus)
- Knowledge of quality management systems
- Ability to leverage social media platforms for sales
- Adequate knowledge of competition law
