About the role

Accountant – Synapse Services

Synapse Services is seeking a qualified Accountant to support the Assistant Finance Manager in maintaining accounting systems, processes, and financial compliance. This is a mid-level role that combines transactional accounting with team supervision and strategic financial management.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining accounting systems, processes, and procedures
  • Ensure financial records meet regulatory and tax compliance requirements
  • Support year-end audit and financial accounting activities
  • Prepare timely month-end management accounts and KPI reports
  • Produce weekly financial management information for senior management
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers, prepayments, accruals, and accounting schedules
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and monitor petty cash, foreign cash, and credit cards
  • Prepare and submit monthly VAT, withholding tax, pension, and statutory returns
  • Process monthly payroll
  • Provide transactional support for purchase and sales ledgers
  • Manage debt control and monitoring
  • Support budgeting and budgetary control activities
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting controls and processes
  • Supervise Accountants and Senior Accountants; conduct staff appraisals, performance management, and training
  • Perform ad hoc support to the Finance Manager as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (minimum)
  • Certified member of ICAN or ACCA
  • 2–5 years of core experience in accounting or management accounting
  • Excellent strategic planning skills
  • Ability to work independently with meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong team leadership and management capabilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
  • Knowledge of Oracle Financials or similar financial software
