About the role

Legal/Administrative Officer

A reputable Microfinance Bank in Ekiti State is seeking a versatile Legal/Administrative Officer to report directly to the Managing Director/CEO. This dual-role position combines legal affairs management, human resource administration, and general office operations, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance and corporate governance.

Responsibilities

Legal Affairs & Corporate Governance:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents including service level agreements (SLAs), lease agreements, and loan security documentation
  • Provide legal advice to management on regulatory compliance, operational matters, and credit recovery
  • Liaise with external solicitors on litigation and debt recovery cases
  • Ensure compliance with CBN Corporate Governance Guidelines and CAC filing requirements

Human Resource Management:

  • Oversee employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluation, and offboarding
  • Maintain confidential staff files and personnel records
  • Manage employee relations, resolve grievances, and ensure compliance with Nigerian Labour Act
  • Monitor attendance, leave schedules, and coordinate training initiatives

General Administration:

  • Manage day-to-day corporate office operations
  • Oversee procurement, inventory management, and facility maintenance
  • Supervise support staff (security, drivers, cleaning)
  • Manage vendor contracts and institutional insurance renewal

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Call to Nigerian Bar (B.L) – mandatory
  • Professional certifications in HR Management (CIPM, SHRM) or Administration – advantageous

Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years post-call experience
  • At least 2 years in legal advisory, corporate governance, or HR administration (financial institution or corporate environment preferred)

Knowledge:

  • Nigerian banking laws and CBN/NDIC regulatory frameworks for microfinance banks
  • Corporate and labour law regulations

Skills:

  • Exceptional drafting and negotiation abilities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • High emotional intelligence and discretion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools
