Partner, Investment & Capital Formation

We are seeking a Partner to lead the capital-formation, investor-relations and institutional-partnership agenda for a new Pan-African private-markets investment platform. This role involves building the institutional fundraising engine of the manager, cultivating relationships with key investors, and shaping the long-term capital-partner architecture.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the institutional capital-formation strategy for the manager and Fund I.
• Identify, prioritise and cultivate institutional LPs, DFIs, pension and insurance investors, sovereign and strategic investors, fund-of-funds, family offices, foundations, and other relevant capital providers.
• Develop and manage anchor and cornerstone investor relationships.
• Lead investor engagement, fundraising sequencing, diligence processes, negotiations, and financial-close execution.
• Shape the institutional positioning and fundraising narrative of the manager and investment strategy.
• Build and maintain a disciplined investor pipeline and institutional relationship-management system.
• Develop strategic partnerships with DFIs, private-market managers, investment institutions, advisers, and other organisations that can strengthen the platform.
• Work closely with the Managing Partner and investment team on investor meetings, fund strategy, governance, structure, and institutional readiness.
• Translate investor feedback into useful strategic intelligence without compromising investment discipline.
• Build the long-term capital-partner architecture supporting Fund I, successor vehicles, co-investments, and other approved private-market strategies.

Requirements

• Substantial experience in private equity, venture capital, or alternative investments.
• Experience in institutional asset management or investment banking.
• Background in fund placement, investor relations, or capital formation.
• Experience in DFI and institutional-investor engagement.
• Knowledge of African private markets.
• Demonstrable involvement in institutional fundraising, ideally covering a meaningful part of the journey from investor targeting and positioning through diligence, negotiation, commitment, and/or financial close.
