Accountant

GVA Partners is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to manage financial records, regulatory compliance, and budgeting processes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of statutory payments, withholding tax (WHT), revenue remittances, and regulatory obligations
• Prepare and monitor monthly budgets for payroll, procurement, and operational expenses
• Manage petty cash disbursements and transaction records
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations including Tax Clearance, NSITF, and Pension requirements
• Liaise with external auditors on annual audited financial statements and tax clearance documentation
• Organize and file all accounting records, vouchers, receipts, and supporting documents
• Maintain electronic and physical filing systems
• Stay updated on accounting standards, government regulations, and compliance requirements
• Analyse financial data and provide recommendations to management on cost-saving opportunities
• Support internal and external audit exercises
• Assist with budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow planning
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on organizational goals
• Perform additional finance and administrative duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3–4 years of post-NYSC experience
• Completed NYSC service
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and financial reporting standards
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, numeracy, and organizational skills
• Critical-thinking ability and inquisitive mindset
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks and Sage 50)

Preferred Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA, or ICAN professional certification
