About the role
Blue Phoenix Deepwater Limited is seeking an experienced Payroll / Tax & Compliance Accountant to ensure accurate and timely payroll, payroll-related taxes, statutory remittances, and compliance documentation for offshore and onshore project personnel.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate monthly payroll for project personnel, including salaries, offshore allowances, rotations, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and approved adjustments.
- Validate employee master data, timesheets, offshore days, leave, overtime, and other payroll inputs before processing.
- Ensure payroll approvals follow the appropriate authority levels and segregation-of-duties requirements.
- Calculate and coordinate timely remittance of PAYE and other applicable statutory deductions arising from project payroll.
- Coordinate pension, NSITF, NHF, and other applicable statutory deductions and remittances.
- Support payroll and tax administration for expatriate and other non-resident personnel where applicable.
- Coordinate required payroll, tax, and supporting documentation with HR, tax advisers, and relevant authorities.
- Prepare payroll, tax, and statutory compliance reports for management.
- Support tax, payroll, and statutory audits and provide complete documentation within agreed timelines.
- Maintain proper records, supporting documentation, and audit trails for activities under the position.
- Comply with approved financial controls, delegated authorities, project procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree/HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- ACA, ACCA, CITN, or equivalent qualification is a must have.
- 5–8 years’ relevant payroll, tax, and statutory compliance experience, preferably in oil and gas, offshore, marine, or project operations.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems capability.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Integrity, confidentiality, professional discipline, and sound judgment.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
