About the role

Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW)

Lily Hospitals is hiring a Community Health Extension Worker to deliver essential primary healthcare services in Ughelli, Delta. You will focus on disease prevention, health promotion, and basic medical care to community members.

Responsibilities

  • Check and record patients' vital signs (weight, height, blood pressure, temperature, respiration rate)
  • Assist in improving patient adherence to treatment regimens
  • Support nursing officers in providing basic medical and preventive care
  • Provide care for patients requiring nutrition, mental health, and prenatal services
  • Maintain high standards of health education for clients
  • Ensure compliance with clinical governance protocols
  • Escort patients to consulting rooms as needed
  • Record patient information in computerized systems
  • Document all activities and ensure proper record-keeping

Requirements

  • Diploma in Community Health from a recognized institution
  • Valid CHEW certification and license from the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria
  • Minimum 1 year experience in primary healthcare or community settings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Knowledge of public health practices and protocols
  • Compassionate and culturally sensitive approach
  • Proficiency in basic medical procedures and healthcare tools
