Legal Counsel

A Legal Counsel is responsible for providing administrative and secretarial support to lawyers and the legal team. This role involves preparing and managing legal documents, maintaining records, assisting with court filings, and ensuring timely follow-up on legal matters.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and secretarial support to lawyers and the legal team.
• Prepare, format, proofread and manage legal documents, correspondence and reports.
• Maintain and organise physical and electronic legal files and records.
• Assist with preparing court documents, contracts, letters and other legal paperwork.
• Manage calendars, meetings, appointments and deadlines.
• Liaise with clients, courts, government agencies and other relevant stakeholders as required.
• Assist with filing and tracking legal documents and correspondence.
• Conduct basic legal research and provide administrative support for ongoing matters.
• Monitor important deadlines and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding matters.
• Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
• Perform other administrative duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience as a Legal Secretary.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good knowledge of legal documentation and office procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise and work under pressure.
• Professional, detail-oriented and highly organised.
