About the role
Director, Institutional and Administrative Unit - Legal Services
The OPEC Fund for International Development seeks an experienced legal director to lead institutional and administrative legal services, advising the General Counsel on constitutional, corporate, HR, procurement, and host country matters while coordinating legal support for finance and capital market activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the legal team responsible for Institutional, Administrative and Capital Market activities
- Coordinate provision of legal services to Finance, including capital market agreements, borrowing programs, and securities listings
- Negotiate institutional procurement contracts for buildings, goods, services, IT, and capital investments
- Provide legal advisory support on human resources matters, including recruitment, compensation, benefits, and employee disputes
- Advise on the Headquarters Agreement between the OPEC Fund and Austria, managing privileges, immunities, and exemptions
- Draft and respond to diplomatic communications (Note Verbales) on behalf of the OPEC Fund
- Advise on constitutional and corporate legal issues under the Agreement Establishing the OPEC Fund
- Lead, mentor, and assess team members; contribute to knowledge management and capacity building
- Represent the OPEC Fund in legal and dispute resolution proceedings
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders including partner countries, law firms, and international organizations
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Law with Bar admission or equivalent
- Minimum 15 years relevant professional experience
- Minimum 5 years experience at an international development finance institution or international law firm
- Minimum 5 years at senior level
- Fluent English
