About the role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced English Language/Literature in English Teacher to join our academic faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-impact instruction in English Language, with a strong emphasis on preparing students for national and external examinations including JAMB (UTME), WASSCE, NECO, and GCE. The teacher will cultivate students’ proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension, while fostering critical thinking and academic excellence.
Responsibilities
- Teach the English/Literature in English across senior secondary levels (JS1–JS3), aligned with NECO/BECE syllabi.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cover grammar, vocabulary, essay writing, comprehension, summary writing, and oral English.
- Prepare students rigorously for internal assessments and external examinations.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
- Analyse student performance data to inform instruction and provide targeted support.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Participate in curriculum planning and review to ensure alignment with national standards.
- Collaborate with other subject teachers to integrate literacy across the curriculum.
- Contribute to school-wide literacy initiatives and academic enrichment programs.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in English, English Education, or related field.
- Teaching qualification or certification (e.g., PGDE, TRCN registration) is an added advantage.
- Proven experience preparing students for NECO/BECE exams.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and educational technology.
- Passion for teaching and mentoring young learners.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support students with varying abilities.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
