Internal Auditor
Responsible for conducting financial audits, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining internal controls across all hotel departments. This role involves analyzing financial records, inventory, and operational processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to company policies.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily and comprehensive audits of sales, stocks, inventories, and accounting records across all hotel departments and outlets.
- Check figures, postings, and financial documents for mathematical correctness and proper recording.
- Evaluate financial documents for compliance with federal regulations and hotel policies.
- Examine expenditures and financial control systems.
- Maintain a policy of zero tolerance for unreviewed transactions and identify income leakages.
- Conduct routine audits of financial transactions including cash handling, bank deposits, and revenue reports.
- Verify daily revenue reports from Front Office and POS systems.
- Audit accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Ensure proper reconciliation of bank statements, petty cash, and revenue accounts.
- Review payroll records for accuracy and compliance.
- Identify potential financial and operational risks and provide recommendations to mitigate them.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend improvements.
- Assess the productivity of internal staff and identify ways to cut costs and improve profitability.
- Collate, check, and analyze stock and purchase items to ensure proper asset control.
- Establish and maintain an up-to-date database for food and beverage inventory.
- Liaise with the Accountant to harmonize pricing of Food & Beverage products.
- Conduct periodic inventory checks on food and beverage stock, housekeeping supplies, and maintenance tools.
- Verify physical assets against company records and monitor usage to prevent losses.
- Prepare detailed audit reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to upper management.
- Work with various departments to gather data and build awareness of policy and procedure issues.
- Monitor and follow up on implementation of previously issued audit recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, financial regulations, and procurement procedures.
- Prepare detailed audit reports highlighting findings, risks, and recommendations.
- Present audit reports to management for corrective action.
- Follow up on previously identified issues to ensure implementation of recommendations.
