Assistant Professor I / Lecturer I
The Assistant Professor I/Lecturer-I at the American University of Nigeria School of Information Technology and Computing is responsible for teaching, research, and community service. The role involves preparing students to be applied and practical thinkers and problem solvers.
Responsibilities
- Teaching and supporting student learning both inside and outside the classroom.
- Ensuring class attendance and completion of required assignments.
- Providing academic advising to students throughout the semester.
- Attending department/school meetings and academic functions.
- Engaging in research activities that promote self-development and the university.
- Contributing to AUN community service and development activities.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or Cybersecurity from a reputable university.
- Minimum of three (3) years of university teaching, research, postdoctoral, or relevant industry experience post-PhD.
- Evidence of supervising undergraduate, master's, and PhD students.
- Proficiency in using ICT tools and e-resources for teaching and research.
- Verifiable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals.
- Appropriate academic credentials and successful post-secondary teaching experience.
- Experience in Africa or other parts of the developing world is a plus.
- Strong commitment to development.
- Understanding of academic integrity, civility, collegiality, and diversity in a community of learners.
