About the role

School Chaplain

The Chaplain will provide spiritual leadership and pastoral oversight for the Abuja Campus, serving as the spiritual head of both the student body and staff. The role involves fostering a strong Christian environment, leading spiritual programs, and offering pastoral care to students and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide spiritual direction and leadership for the campus.
  • Oversee the spiritual development and wellbeing of students and staff.
  • Plan and coordinate chapel services, prayer meetings, Bible studies, discipleship initiatives, and other spiritual programs.
  • Provide pastoral care, biblical counsel, encouragement, and spiritual guidance where appropriate.
  • Work closely with school leadership to ensure that the spiritual life of the campus is consistent with the school’s vision and values.
  • Help create an environment where Christian faith is lived and demonstrated throughout the school community.

Requirements

  • Be a born-again Christian with a genuine personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Be deeply knowledgeable in Scripture and able to teach and communicate biblical truth clearly.
  • Demonstrate a passion for the salvation and spiritual development of children and young people.
  • Have a strong commitment to prayer and dependence on the Holy Spirit.
  • Possess strong Christian character, integrity, humility, and emotional and spiritual maturity.
  • Fully embrace and uphold the Christian values, vision, doctrine, and spiritual ethos of the school.
  • Be willing to continue learning and growing spiritually alongside the school community.
  • Have a genuine heart for children and young people and be invested in their spiritual wellbeing.
  • Be approachable, compassionate, and able to build meaningful relationships with students.
  • Understand the different spiritual and developmental needs of children and adolescents.
  • Create and support opportunities for students to encounter God, study His Word, pray, worship, and develop a personal relationship with Christ.
  • Be attentive to the spiritual condition of students and able to identify areas where pastoral support or intervention may be required.
  • Have previous administrative or management experience.
  • Possess strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Be able to manage programmes, schedules, teams, and initiatives effectively.
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with school leadership, teachers, parents, and students.
  • Have the maturity to handle sensitive pastoral matters with confidentiality, wisdom, and discretion.
  • Be able to lead and develop other members of the spiritual team.
  • Be spiritually mature, prayerful, biblically grounded, and passionate about the salvation of young people.
  • Be a person of unquestionable integrity, humble, teachable, and willing to grow.
  • Be approachable and relational, firm when necessary, while remaining compassionate and gracious.
  • Be a strong communicator and leader.
  • Be able to exercise sound judgment and be committed to accountability.
  • Be fully aligned with the vision and values of the school and ministry.
