Hygiene Promotion Assistant

Malteser International is recruiting a Hygiene Promotion Assistant to support WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiatives in Northeast Nigeria, specifically in Borno State.

About the Role Malteser International has been active in Nigeria since 2017, working to improve access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene for internally displaced persons (IDP) and host communities. The organization implements a participatory, gender-sensitive, and inclusive approach to WASH activities.

Responsibilities The Hygiene Promotion Assistant will support WASH sector activities including:

• NFI (Non-Food Items) distribution
• Solarization of boreholes
• Rehabilitation of hand pumps
• Construction of latrines
• Hygiene promotion and community engagement

Requirements

• Understanding of WASH sector principles
• Ability to work in a participatory and inclusive manner
• Gender sensitivity and community engagement skills
• Willingness to work in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria
