About the role
Assistant Warehouse Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Assistant Warehouse Accountant to support the Warehouse Accountant in managing inventory accounting, warehouse financial controls, and stock reconciliation activities. The ideal candidate will assist in ensuring the accuracy of inventory records, processing warehouse-related financial transactions, and maintaining proper documentation to support efficient warehouse operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory and financial records
- Record and reconcile daily warehouse transactions, including stock receipts, transfers, issues, and returns
- Verify warehouse documents such as Goods Received Notes (GRNs), Stock Transfer Notes (STNs), delivery notes, and issue vouchers
- Support daily, weekly, and monthly stock reconciliations between physical inventory and system records
- Assist in preparing inventory valuation and warehouse accounting reports
- Monitor inventory movements and investigate stock variances or discrepancies
- Ensure all warehouse transactions are accurately captured in the ERP/accounting system
- Assist in processing inventory adjustments with appropriate approvals and supporting documentation
- Support periodic stock counts and annual inventory audits
- Maintain organized filing of warehouse financial and inventory records
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and inventory management procedures
- Liaise with the warehouse, procurement, logistics, and finance teams to resolve inventory and accounting issues
- Assist in monitoring slow-moving, obsolete, or damaged inventory and prepare reports for management
- Perform other accounting and warehouse-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, inventory control, warehouse accounting, or finance
- Experience with ERP systems or inventory management software is an added advantage
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and inventory valuation methods
