Assistant Cook

Lily Hospitals Limited is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Assistant Cook to support the kitchen team in preparing meals and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Cook/Chef with the preparation of meals according to required standards.
  • Wash, peel, cut, chop, and prepare vegetables, meat, fish, and other ingredients.
  • Measure and prepare ingredients required for different meals.
  • Assist with cooking, frying, boiling, grilling, baking, and other basic food preparation tasks as directed.
  • Ensure ingredients are properly stored and handled to maintain freshness and quality.
  • Assist with setting up the kitchen before meal preparation and cleaning the kitchen after service.
  • Wash and sanitize cooking utensils, dishes, work surfaces, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain proper hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen at all times.
  • Assist with monitoring kitchen supplies and report low stock or shortages to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.
  • Ensure food is handled, prepared, and stored safely to prevent contamination.
  • Support the Cook/Chef during busy service periods.
  • Minimize food wastage by handling ingredients appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the workday.
  • Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum of SSCE/WAEC/NECO or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working in a kitchen, restaurant, hotel, hospital, or similar food-service environment is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
  • Good understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety practices.
  • Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and portion requirements.
  • Must be hardworking, reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Must maintain excellent personal hygiene.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, and public holidays when required.
  • The ideal candidate should be passionate about food preparation, hardworking, teachable, organized, hygienic, and able to work effectively with other members of the kitchen team.
