Mid Level SQL Annotator

Join Odixcity Consulting as a Mid Level SQL Annotator in a remote role. You'll be the critical link between raw database pipelines and machine learning models, querying complex datasets, identifying edge cases, and annotating structured/unstructured data to improve AI's natural language understanding.

Responsibilities

• Write advanced SQL queries (JOINs, CTEs, WINDOW functions, subqueries) to pull precise training slices from data warehouse
• Use SQL string functions (SPLIT) to flatten nested JSON blobs, logs, or free text fields into tabular rows ready for labeling
• Apply CASE statements and conditional logic to normalize dirty data before annotation
• Manually review queried data and assign granular labels
• Write dynamic SQL rules to automatically pre-label high confidence data
• Build automated SQL audit queries to scan annotated datasets daily for duplicates, conflicting labels, null values, or out-of-distribution samples
• Partner with ML Engineers to test proposed annotation guidelines against database records

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years professional experience writing advanced SQL
• Strong understanding of JOIN types (INNER, LEFT, LATERAL FLATTEN)
• Experience with annotation tools (Label Box, Super Annotate)
• Familiarity with Python or R for data manipulation
• Meticulous attention to detail with ability to spot data issues and understand their impact on model performance
• Ability to translate technical database structures into plain English annotation guidelines for non-technical team members
