About the role

Job Summary

The Blood Bank Dispatch Rider is responsible for the safe, timely, and proper transportation of blood, blood components, laboratory samples, medical supplies, and related materials between the blood bank, hospitals, healthcare facilities, laboratories, and other approved locations.

Responsibilities

  • Safely collect and deliver blood, blood components, blood samples, and other approved medical materials as instructed.
  • Ensure blood products and samples are transported using the appropriate temperature-controlled transport containers/cool boxes as directed by the Blood Bank team.
  • Maintain the integrity and security of blood products and samples throughout transportation.
  • Verify the items being collected against the relevant documentation before leaving the facility.
  • Obtain appropriate acknowledgement/signature upon delivery and return completed documentation promptly.
  • Ensure all blood bank-related deliveries are made within the required timeframe.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding patients, donors, blood products, test results, and other sensitive information.
  • Follow all instructions provided by the Blood Bank and Logistics teams regarding the handling and transportation of medical materials.
  • Immediately report any delay, accident, damage, temperature excursion, leakage, loss, or other incident involving blood products or samples.
  • Maintain proper records of all trips, collections, and deliveries.
  • Ensure the assigned motorcycle is clean, roadworthy, and properly maintained.
  • Conduct routine checks on the motorcycle and report faults or maintenance requirements promptly.
  • Comply with all traffic laws, road safety requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Assist with the transportation of blood bank supplies and other approved materials when required.
  • Maintain professional conduct when interacting with patients, hospitals, laboratories, vendors, and healthcare professionals.
  • Perform other logistics duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum of SSCE/WAEC; OND or equivalent qualification is an added advantage.
  • Valid motorcycle riding licence.
  • Valid means of identification.
  • Good knowledge of Lagos roads and routes.
  • Ability to use Google Maps and other navigation applications.
  • Physically fit and able to work under pressure and meet time-sensitive delivery requirements.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours where required.
