About the role
Technical Sales Lead - Completions
Weatherford International is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Lead specializing in Completions to join our dynamic team in Lagos, Nigeria. This role combines technical expertise in oil and gas completions technology with strategic sales leadership to drive revenue growth and expand Weatherford's market presence in the region.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets for completions product lines in Nigeria and surrounding regions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at major oil and gas operators
- Lead technical presentations, product demonstrations, and field trials
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, marketing) to develop customized solutions
- Provide detailed technical guidance on completions equipment selection and operational best practices
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify business opportunities
- Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial proposals with cost estimates and timelines
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements with clients
- Monitor project execution and identify opportunities for additional services
- Mentor and develop junior technical sales staff
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and activity reports using CRM systems
- Participate in customer meetings and presentations
- Support development of tailored value propositions based on customer needs
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field (advanced degree preferred)
- 7–10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- At least 5 years in completions technology sales or operations
- Demonstrated technical expertise in completions equipment (sand control, liner hangers, packers, flow control devices, intelligent completions)
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and growing market share
- Strong understanding of West African oil and gas market dynamics, particularly Nigeria
- Experience working with major international and national oil companies in Nigeria
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Strong analytical abilities and business acumen
- Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office suite, and technical software
- Willingness to travel extensively within Nigeria and occasionally internationally
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Weatherford's completions product lines and services
- Knowledge of local content requirements and business practices in Nigeria
- Understanding of HSSE policies and procedures in oilfield operations
- Experience working in challenging environments and remote locations
- Familiarity with deepwater and shallow water completions technologies
- Professional certifications relevant to completions engineering or sales management
