Role Overview
Peopleware Consulting Ltd is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to manage accurate and timely payroll processing, compensation and benefits administration, payroll records, and statutory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Process monthly payroll accurately and within established deadlines.
- Administer employee salaries, allowances, deductions, bonuses, and other payroll adjustments.
- Manage employee benefits administration, including statutory and company-provided benefits.
- Process PAYE, pension contributions, and other statutory deductions.
- Reconcile payroll reports, bank payments, and payroll-related accounts.
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll and employee compensation records.
- Respond to and resolve employee payroll and benefits queries.
- Review payroll data and identify discrepancies, errors, and unusual transactions.
- Support salary reviews, compensation analysis, and benefits administration.
- Ensure compliance with applicable tax, pension, labour laws, and company policies.
- Prepare payroll reports and management information as required.
- Support internal and external payroll audits and compliance reviews.
- Work closely with HR and Finance on new hires, exits, promotions, salary changes, and other employee movements.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, accuracy, and efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in payroll administration, preferably within a structured organisation.
- Professional certification in Accounting (ICAN), HR (CIPM), Payroll, or a related field is required.
- Proven experience handling payroll, compensation, benefits, and statutory deductions.
- Experience using payroll software/HRIS and advanced Excel.
- Knowledge of Nigerian payroll, PAYE, pension, and statutory requirements.
Skills
- Strong payroll processing and reconciliation skills.
- Good knowledge of PAYE, pensions, statutory deductions, and payroll compliance.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll/HRIS systems.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong confidentiality, integrity, and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
