About the role

Accountant

Runs and Trails Enterprises is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Accountant to manage financial records, reporting, and compliance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and accounting schedules
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of accounting transactions
  • Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and other financial records
  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
  • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis reports
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Ensure timely processing of vendor payments and customer collections
  • Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue accounts
  • Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE, WHT, and Company Income Tax requirements
  • Prepare and file statutory returns within stipulated deadlines
  • Implement and maintain sound financial controls and accounting procedures
  • Support internal and external audit exercises
  • Support payroll preparation and reconciliation
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations for operational efficiency
  • Prepare cash flow reports and monitor organizational liquidity

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline
  • Professional certification such as ICAN or ACCA (mandatory)
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Experience in financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, and audit coordination
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Sound understanding of Nigerian tax laws and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modeling skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or MBA
  • Additional certifications in finance, taxation, or audit
  • Prior experience in a corporate or professional services environment
