Dispensing Officer

The Dispensing Officer is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter medications. The role involves verifying prescriptions, preparing medications, maintaining accurate records, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical regulations while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and process prescriptions for accuracy and completeness
• Dispense medications according to approved prescriptions and standard operating procedures
• Label medications correctly with dosage instructions, warnings, and patient information
• Counsel patients or customers on proper use, dosage, storage, and possible side effects of medications
• Maintain accurate dispensing records and patient profiles
• Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and storing pharmaceutical products
• Ensure proper storage conditions for medicines, including temperature-sensitive products
• Check medication expiry dates and remove expired or damaged products from stock
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dispensing area
• Ensure compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP), company policies, and regulatory requirements
• Report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, or quality concerns promptly
• Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to resolve prescription-related issues
• Participate in regular stock counts and inventory audits
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and company information

Requirements

• OND, HND, Diploma in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, or related health science field
• 2–6 years of experience
• Valid professional registration or license (where required by local regulations)
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products and dispensing procedures
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
• Computer literacy and familiarity with pharmacy management software
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Good problem-solving and teamwork abilities

Salary

N150,000 – N200,000 per month
