Role Overview
The Gender Lead ensures that the NiWEMA programme is designed, delivered, and evaluated through a robust gender lens across its full scope. The role involves leading gender mainstreaming across all workstreams, conducting contextual gender analysis, and addressing barriers faced by young women entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of NiWEMA's gender strategy.
- Conduct and maintain a gender analysis of the programme's target population.
- Analyse gender dynamics within sector-based clusters.
- Provide technical guidance on gender-responsive design and delivery.
- Review programme content to ensure it is gender-sensitive and inclusive.
- Design and deliver gender training for project staff and partners.
- Assess gender safety considerations for physical training delivery.
- Monitor and report on gender-disaggregated programme data.
- Develop gender-related sections of programme reports and funder submissions.
- Collaborate with the Safeguarding Lead.
- Represent NiWEMA at external gender-focused forums.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years' experience in gender programming or women's economic empowerment.
- Experience in digital and field-based programme delivery.
- Strong knowledge of gender dynamics in the Nigerian context.
- Experience integrating gender into large-scale programmes with multiple delivery channels.
