Superintendent Pharmacist

The Superintendent Pharmacist is a full-time, on-site role based in Lagos Island, responsible for overseeing the professional, ethical, and legal standards of pharmacy operations. The role involves supervising dispensing activities, ensuring accurate and safe medication supply, reviewing prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, leading and mentoring pharmacy teams, and implementing standard operating procedures that align with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise dispensing activities and ensure accurate and safe medication supply
• Review prescriptions for clinical appropriateness
• Lead and mentor pharmacy teams, coordinate staff training, and implement SOPs aligned with regulations
• Maintain proper documentation, manage controlled drugs, and liaise with regulatory bodies
• Conduct regular audits to ensure quality assurance
• Provide patient counseling, promote rational drug use, support public health initiatives, and collaborate with management to improve service delivery

Requirements

• Licensed Pharmacist with B.Pharm or Pharm.D degree and current PCN registration
• Demonstrated experience in community or retail pharmacy with leadership or supervisory responsibilities
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical care, medication safety, and Nigerian pharmacy laws and ethics
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills, including inventory management and regulatory reporting
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to mentor teams and provide patient counseling
• Proven ability to implement SOPs, quality assurance processes, and compliance programs
• Comfort working with pharmacy management systems and basic digital tools
• Commitment to continuous professional development and patient-centered care
