About the role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Training Manager with a strong background in Power, Engineering, Manufacturing, or Industrial Operations to lead the development and implementation of our technical and workforce training programmes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement annual training and development plans aligned with business and operational requirements.
- Conduct training needs assessments across engineering, power plant, maintenance, production, and support functions.
- Identify technical and competency gaps and develop appropriate training interventions.
- Design and coordinate technical, operational, safety, leadership, and behavioural training programmes.
- Work closely with Engineering, Power Plant, Maintenance, Production, HR, and other departments to identify critical training requirements.
- Coordinate internal and external trainers, consultants, and training institutions.
- Develop and maintain competency frameworks and skills matrices for technical employees.
- Monitor training effectiveness and evaluate the impact of programmes on employee performance.
- Maintain accurate training records, reports, budgets, and compliance documentation.
- Develop structured on-the-job training, apprenticeship, graduate trainee, and technical development programmes.
- Support succession planning and career development initiatives for critical technical positions.
- Ensure training programmes comply with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Prepare periodic training reports and provide management with insights on training effectiveness and workforce capability development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree/HND in Engineering, Human Resources, Education, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 7–10 years of relevant experience, with substantial experience in Training/Learning & Development.
- Strong experience within the Power, Engineering, Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Construction, or other industrial sectors.
- Proven experience managing technical and engineering training programmes.
- Good understanding of power plant operations, engineering functions, maintenance, production, or other technical environments.
- Experience developing competency frameworks, skills matrices, and training programmes.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, and programme management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical employees.
- Professional certification in HR/L&D, such as CIPM, SHRM, ATD, or equivalent, will be an advantage.
