Business Manager - Fashion Industry
Responsible for driving the commercial growth, operational efficiency, and overall business performance of the fashion business, combining strong business management skills with a practical understanding of fashion trends, customers, product development, merchandising, and retail dynamics.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business strategies that drive revenue, profitability, customer growth, and brand positioning.
- Translate fashion trends, customer insights, and market developments into commercially viable product and sales opportunities.
- Oversee sales, inventory, pricing, merchandising, production/procurement, and operational performance to ensure business targets are achieved.
- Monitor sales performance, product margins, stock movement, cash flow, and key business KPIs, providing actionable recommendations to management.
- Work closely with designers, production teams, suppliers, sales, and marketing to ensure products are delivered on time, at the right quality, price, and quantity.
- Identify opportunities for new product lines, collaborations, distribution channels, retail expansion, and other revenue streams.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, wholesale/retail partners, and other strategic stakeholders.
- Lead and coordinate teams, set performance expectations, and ensure accountability for commercial and operational results.
- Conduct regular competitor and market analysis to maintain the brand's competitive positioning and commercial relevance.
- Ensure business processes, budgets, policies, and controls support sustainable growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Fashion Management, Marketing, Economics, or a related discipline.
- 6–8 years’ experience in business management, commercial operations, retail, fashion, or a closely related industry.
- Strong understanding of fashion retail, product lifecycle, merchandising, pricing, customer behaviour, and market trends.
- Strong commercial, analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrable experience managing revenue targets, budgets, teams, and business performance.
- Strong understanding of Excel/Google Sheets and business performance reporting.
- Ability to balance creative fashion considerations with commercial realities and profitability.
