Facilities Supervisor
The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of Rugby School Nigeria's buildings, grounds, and infrastructure. This role involves maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations, managing maintenance activities, and coordinating with contractors and service providers.
Responsibilities
- Ensure buildings, grounds, and infrastructure are safe, compliant, and welcoming.
- Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and minor works.
- Report larger maintenance issues to the Facilities Manager.
- Assist with setting up rooms, furniture, and equipment for school events and classes.
- Maintain indoor and outdoor areas in a tidy and safe condition.
- Manage waste management and recycling.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Ensure adherence to HSE regulations and school safety policies.
- Monitor and manage contractors and service providers.
- Keep accurate maintenance and inspection records.
- Follow health and safety policies and report hazards or incidents.
- Assist in conducting regular safety checks including fire alarms, ACs, and emergency lighting.
- Help ensure safe storage of tools, chemicals, and equipment.
- Participate in professional development and training as required.
- Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school.
- Safeguard the welfare of children and promote equality and diversity.
- Be flexible and undertake other reasonable duties as required.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (MEP), Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant HSE/Health & Safety certification.
- Demonstrable experience in facilities management or building services.
- Experience in coordinating maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Experience managing external contractors and suppliers.
- Experience in risk assessments, method statements, and health and safety inspections.
- Ability to supervise and coordinate day-to-day facilities and maintenance operations.
- Ability to identify faults and coordinate corrective action.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of MEP systems and health and safety requirements.
- Good IT skills and ability to maintain accurate digital records.
