About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Microsoft Windows and VMware vSphere Administrator to join our Infrastructure and Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, administration, optimization, and support of enterprise Microsoft Windows Server environments and VMware virtualization platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, administer, and support Microsoft Windows Server environments.
  • Manage enterprise Active Directory infrastructure, including Domain Controllers, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and Federation Services.
  • Administer Microsoft Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, and future releases.
  • Perform server patching, upgrades, security hardening, and lifecycle management.
  • Implement and maintain Windows security policies and compliance standards.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, availability, and reliability.
  • Manage Windows Failover Clustering and High Availability solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex Windows infrastructure issues.
  • Design, deploy, administer, and maintain VMware environments including VMware ESXi, vCenter Server, Clusters, Distributed Switches, Resource Pools, HA, DRS, vMotion, and Storage vMotion.
  • Provision, optimize, migrate, and decommission virtual machines.
  • Support hybrid infrastructure solutions integrating on-premises systems with Microsoft Azure.
  • Manage Azure virtual machines, storage, and identity services.
  • Implement cloud governance, security, and operational best practices.
  • Implement server and virtualization security baselines.
  • Remediate infrastructure vulnerabilities and security findings.
  • Support Identity and Access Management (IAM) initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Cyber Security teams to strengthen infrastructure security.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate IT, audit, and regulatory requirements.
  • Administer infrastructure monitoring and alerting platforms.
  • Proactively monitor infrastructure health and system availability.
  • Perform root cause analysis for major incidents.
  • Identify and implement performance improvements.
  • Support problem management and continuous service improvement initiatives.
  • Develop automation solutions using PowerShell and VMware PowerCLI.
  • Standardize operational procedures and deployment activities.
  • Improve operational efficiency through automation and orchestration.
  • Serve as the technical infrastructure lead for IT projects involving new business applications, platforms, and services.
  • Collaborate with project managers, application owners, vendors, solution architects, and business stakeholders to define infrastructure requirements.
  • Design, build, provision, and configure Windows and VMware infrastructure to support application deployments and upgrades.
  • Participate in infrastructure architecture reviews, technical design workshops, and project planning sessions.
  • Perform infrastructure sizing, capacity planning, and performance assessments for new and existing applications.
  • Support application deployment activities across Development, Test, SIT, UAT, Pre-Production, and Production environments.
  • Provide technical support during application testing, migration activities, and go-live events.
  • Ensure new solutions meet infrastructure, security, backup, disaster recovery, and operational support requirements.
  • Coordinate infrastructure changes related to application releases, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning activities.
  • Work closely with Network, Security, Database, Cloud, and Application Support teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop implementation documentation, infrastructure build guides, and operational handover procedures.
  • Support infrastructure transformation projects including Data Centre migrations, Cloud migration initiatives, Operating System upgrades, Virtualization modernization projects, and Infrastructure refresh programs.
  • Participate in project governance meetings and provide technical status updates, risk mitigation plans, and implementation recommendations.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior administrators and engineers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams and external vendors.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and management reporting requirements.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex infrastructure and virtualization issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Master's Degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience managing enterprise Microsoft Windows Server environments and VMware vSphere platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Server technologies, VMware vSphere, Active Directory, virtualization, storage, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • Strong understanding of cloud integration and infrastructure security.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and strong infrastructure design experience.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership in large-scale enterprise environments.
