About the role
Blue Phoenix Deepwater Limited is seeking an experienced Project/Rig Accountant to maintain accurate project accounting records and provide reliable cost, commitment, accrual, reconciliation, and project-performance information.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and complete project accounting records and ensure all transactions are correctly coded to the appropriate project, cost centre, account, and activity.
- Coordinate project month-end accounting activities in accordance with the approved closing timetable.
- Perform bank, supplier, customer, payroll and balance-sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items promptly.
- Capture and report project expenditure by cost category, work package, vessel/rig activity, department and other relevant dimensions.
- Review open purchase orders, goods/service receipts and unprocessed invoices to ensure project costs are recognized in the appropriate period.
- Provide accurate cost and supporting information required for client billing and project revenue recognition.
- Monitor outstanding purchase orders, commitments, invoices and accrued liabilities.
- Prepare project accounting schedules, reconciliations and supporting reports required for management review.
- Maintain proper records, supporting documentation and audit trails for activities under the position.
- Protect company and project resources and maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Work collaboratively with other project functions to support safe, efficient and commercially successful project delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree/HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline.
- ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification is a must have.
- 5–10 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably in oil & gas, offshore drilling, marine, engineering, EPC or project environments.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems capability.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Integrity, confidentiality, professional discipline and sound judgement.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
