Driver – FHI 360

FHI 360 UK-Nigeria seeks an experienced Driver to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for staff, consultants, visitors, equipment, and program materials within Abuja and its environs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily vehicle checks before and after use; report defects immediately
• Verify vehicle checklists, tools, and materials inventory are complete and functional
• Obtain authorization for all vehicle journeys and record movements in logbooks
• Maintain valid vehicle documents (insurance, registration) and keep documents folder updated
• Ensure seat belt compliance and passenger safety at all times
• Adhere to approved speed limits and FHI 360 fleet policies
• Report all incidents, accidents, and near-misses immediately
• Keep vehicles clean inside and outside daily
• Support logistics/warehouse operations as required
• Submit monthly mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance reports to the head driver
• Maintain secure storage of vehicle keys and documents when not in use
• Follow all security protocols and visibility procedures

Requirements

• SSCE/NECO Certificate (mandatory)
• 4 years' experience as a driver with reputable organizations (INGOs, Corporate, Government)
• Valid National driving license (mandatory)
• Excellent verbal communication and listening skills
• Fluent in English and Hausa
• Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to respond to emergency callouts
• Ability to diagnose vehicle faults and perform minor repairs
• Ability to maintain visibility and security protocols

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience as a mechanic or auto-electrician
• Previous work experience in North-central Nigeria or relatively insecure locations
