Iron Bender - Foreman

The Iron Bender Foreman is responsible for leading, supervising, and coordinating all reinforcement steel (rebar) fabrication, cutting, bending, and fixing operations on site. The role ensures that all structural elements are reinforced strictly in accordance with engineering drawings and construction standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the complete rebar workflow, from reading bar bending schedules and blueprints to the final tying and placement of reinforcement steel in formwork.
• Ensure correct rebar sizing, spacing, overlapping lengths, bending angles, and concrete cover blocks are maintained as specified.
• Inspect ongoing and completed reinforcement works to guarantee structural integrity.
• Direct, coordinate, and supervise the daily activities of iron benders, steel fixers, and welding assistants.
• Oversee the safe cutting, bending, and utilization of reinforcement steel bars.
• Enforce HSE regulations during heavy lifting, cutting, and steel fixing operations.
• Maintain accurate daily logs of reinforcement work progress, material consumption, and workforce deployment.

Requirements

• Trade Test Certificate, Ordinary National Diploma (OND), or relevant technical certification in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or Metal Fabrication.
• Minimum of 5 to 8 years of hands-on site experience in steel fixing and reinforcement supervision.
• Exceptional ability to read, interpret, and execute complex structural drawings and bar bending schedules.
• Strong technical proficiency in operating manual and mechanical rebar cutting and bending equipment.
• Strong leadership, team management, and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Excellent physical stamina and resilience for demanding field environments.
