About the role
Project Assistant (AVM)
Support the implementation of project activities in migration and protection services, working under the National Project Officer (Protection) in Kano. This role involves case management, family tracing and reunification, and coordination of protection services for vulnerable migrants and displaced persons.
Responsibilities
- Support implementation of project plans and day-to-day administrative processes under direct supervision
- Monitor case management and support for vulnerable migrants, including screening interviews, intake, referral, and treatment
- Coordinate family tracing and reunification (FTR) services for unaccompanied and separated children (UASC) and adult migrants
- Facilitate communication with relevant IOM units and partner organizations (psychosocial support, counter-trafficking, etc.)
- Arrange temporary shelter placement for vulnerable migrants when needed
- Monitor reintegration activities and beneficiary progress
- Coordinate inter-agency forums (Protection cluster, child-protection sub-cluster, gender-based violence sub-cluster, task forces)
- Monitor protection needs of mobile populations and affected communities
- Conduct field visits as required
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Case management and vulnerable population support experience
- Knowledge of family tracing and reunification procedures
- Familiarity with migration and protection sector standards
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to conduct field visits and interviews
- Understanding of child protection and gender-based violence principles
