About the role

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and experienced Special Needs Teacher to support pupils in the Nursery and Primary sections with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will develop and implement individualized learning strategies, promote inclusive education, and work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and school leadership to ensure every child reaches their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and identify pupils' individual learning needs.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group instruction tailored to pupils' abilities.
  • Adapt teaching methods and learning materials to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and document pupils' progress.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and parents to support pupils' development.
  • Promote an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment.
  • Manage behaviour positively and encourage pupils' social and emotional development.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and school activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or NCE in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Professional teaching qualification is required.
  • TRCN registration is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience teaching children with special educational needs.
  • Experience working with Nursery and Primary pupils is preferred.
  • Experience supporting learners with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, speech and language difficulties, or other learning disabilities is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of special education and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to prepare and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Basic ICT skills.
  • A caring, patient, and child-centred approach.
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Certification or specialized training in Special Education, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Autism Education, or related fields will be an added advantage.

Salary

  • N100,000 - N150,000 per month.
