Accountant

DreamCity Property & Investment Limited is seeking a highly competent Accountant with a minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate development, construction, REIT investment, fintech, microfinance banking, or hospitality. This is a full-time role based in Lekki, Lagos, reporting to the Director, Finance/Accounts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records for all subsidiaries and ensure statutory compliance
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements with inter-company reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations (real estate, REIT, microfinance, fintech, hospitality)
• Assist in budget preparation and periodic forecasts; monitor performance against budget with variance analysis
• Compute, file, and remit all applicable taxes (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE) to FIRS and state authorities
• Oversee vendor payments, contractor milestone payments, and customer/investor receipts
• Reconcile multiple bank accounts daily and prepare cash position reports
• Generate financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with profitability and cost driver insights
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors
• Review and strengthen internal controls; recommend process efficiencies

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from a recognized institution
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in a similar role
• Practical experience in at least two of: real estate development, construction, REIT investment, fintech, microfinance banking, or hospitality
• Professional certification mandatory (ICAN, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax laws, and industry-specific regulations
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, ERP systems) and advanced Excel
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple entities with minimal supervision

Preferred Attributes

• Experience with group consolidation and inter-company transactions
• Familiarity with payment gateway reconciliation for fintech operations
• Knowledge of construction job costing and revenue recognition (IFRS 15)
