About the role
National Sales Manager
Johnvents Foods Limited is seeking an experienced National Sales Manager to lead the execution of FMCG commercial strategy across Nigeria. You will oversee the entire field sales organization, manage route-to-market optimization, and drive operational excellence across all regions.
Responsibilities
- Direct implementation of national sales plans across all regions, ensuring consistent execution of the 4Ps (Presence, Placement, Pricing, Promotion)
- Oversee regional and area sales managers to meet daily, weekly, and monthly volume and revenue targets
- Monitor distributor health, inventory levels, and trade debt to ensure operational continuity
- Design and deploy efficient route-to-market structures, including van fleet optimization and sub-distribution models
- Identify and penetrate white spaces in the Nigerian market to ensure product availability
- Conduct frequent field visits to audit execution, gather market intelligence, and resolve channel conflicts
- Recruit, train, and develop high-impact sales force with focus on informal retail trade expertise
- Implement structured performance management frameworks and incentive schemes
- Drive adoption of SFA (Sales Force Automation) and CRM tools for visibility of secondary sales and stock levels
- Conduct regular business reviews with regional heads to pivot tactics and reallocate assets
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or related field
- 10+ years progressive FMCG sales experience with at least 5 years in regional or national sales leadership role
- Expert-level understanding of Nigerian informal trade, street vending, and last-mile distribution networks
- Demonstrated ability to lead large, geographically dispersed teams
- Proven track record managing P&L, trade budgets, and complex logistics in high-volume FMCG environment
- MBA or professional sales certifications are highly advantageous
