About the role

Role Overview

The CCTV Operator monitors multiple surveillance screens in real time to protect employees, customers, facilities, inventory, and company assets. The role involves identifying suspicious activity, tracking incidents, operating cameras remotely where applicable, reporting security concerns, and managing CCTV footage.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor multiple CCTV screens and assigned surveillance areas continuously.
  • Operate cameras remotely to pan, tilt, zoom, or change positions where applicable.
  • Identify suspicious behaviour, unauthorised access, theft, vandalism, accidents, and other unusual activities.
  • Track persons or incidents across surveillance areas and communicate relevant details to security personnel.
  • Check camera coverage and report faulty, damaged, or poorly positioned cameras.
  • Detect and promptly report security breaches, suspicious activities, and emergencies.
  • Provide security personnel with accurate information on incident location, timing, persons involved, and movements.
  • Liaise with security teams and relevant authorities to support incident response.
  • Review and preserve relevant footage for investigations.
  • Monitor movement within the premises and report unauthorised access.
  • Monitor key access points and report unusual movement of people, goods, equipment, or inventory.
  • Support the prevention and detection of theft, fraud, vandalism, and other security violations.
  • Maintain accurate records of security incidents and unusual occurrences.
  • Prepare CCTV monitoring and incident reports with relevant details and actions taken.
  • Record and escalate equipment faults, technical issues, and unresolved security concerns.
  • Retrieve, review, store, and preserve CCTV footage for authorised investigations.
  • Protect recordings from unauthorised access, deletion, or alteration.
  • Provide footage to authorised management, investigators, or relevant authorities in line with company procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all surveillance recordings.
  • Conduct routine checks on cameras, monitors, recording systems, and related equipment.
  • Report camera failures, poor image quality, recording interruptions, and system faults promptly.
  • Liaise with IT or technical teams to resolve CCTV-related issues.
  • Support security personnel during emergencies by providing real-time CCTV information.
  • Assist in tracking individuals and providing relevant footage during investigations.
  • Maintain heightened alertness during high-risk activities and sensitive operations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of CCTV footage and security information.
  • Prevent unauthorised access, use, or disclosure of surveillance recordings.
  • Follow company CCTV, privacy, and data protection policies.
  • Maintain clear communication with security personnel, supervisors, management, and relevant departments.
  • Provide accurate incident information and support investigations and emergency response.
  • Escalate security concerns promptly.
  • Follow company security, safety, CCTV, and data protection procedures.
  • Maintain punctuality, alertness, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Perform other security duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Possess a B.Sc or HND in Computer Science or equivalent qualification in Security Management, Criminology, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in CCTV monitoring, security operations, surveillance, loss prevention, or a related role is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of CCTV surveillance systems and security monitoring equipment.
  • Ability to operate CCTV monitoring and recording systems.
  • Good observation and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Strong communication and incident-reporting skills.
  • Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond appropriately to emergencies.
  • Good computer literacy and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and extended hours when required.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to workplace security.
